WINDOW/ Nordstrom's - Portland

On my trip to portland I was sad to find that Portland really lacked window displays of any kind. That being said, I can't really say they had much of a fashion scene there either. I did enjoy how relaxed everyone was though and whenever my friends and I dressed up, everyone was very open and their reactions were more than pleasant!

I was fortunate enough to have time to snap some photos of Nordstrom's windows though! I'm not totally sold on their styling but I love the displays otherwise. Their use of printed fabric to create depth and the fluorescent tube lights to add dynamism really made everything come together. Make sure to check out the Kate Spade window at the end! It's gorgeous and the detail in that one you can't miss!

WINDOW/ Loft 82

Loft 82 is a small retail space that popped up on the Granville strip beside the bowling alley about half a year ago. The boutique is sister to Oak & Fort and features clothing in a similar aesthetic as well as a small selection of Oak & Fort clothing. Both Oak & Fort and Loft 82's windows are done by two female architects an it really works to both company's clean aesthetics. Their minimalistic approach to their displays is a real breath of fresh air and really goes to show that great displays really don't have to have that much.

OUTFIT/ Grow Up and Blow Away

We had these giant balloons that spelled PROM at work, so naturally after the prom display was dismantled they gave away the balloons and I couldn't help but snatch up the giant M. Muhahahaha!

Anyways, I also recently purchased this BEAUTIFUL pastel Nubuck bomber jacket which I am absolutely in love with (Can anyone say thank-you work discount?). "How do you wear that in the summer?" you ask? Well in Vancouver it only reaches above 20 degrees C 3 days out of the year, okay well more realistically it reaches above 20 from July - September. Anyways, that still gives me enough time to wear it as much as possible before it gets too hot. :) I ended up pairing it with my grey terry cloth t-shirt and pistachio Topman chinos. Top it off with a neon pink beanie and some silver oxfords and we're done!

Apparently shooting with a balloon is harder than Saul and I though. We ended up with a lot of awkward photos of either me or me holding a silver blob, see for yourself.

WINDOW/ Hudson's Bay - The Essential Dress

The Essential Dress windows at the bay are probably the cutest windows (besides the chameleons) in Vancouver right now. Taking a retro 50s approach we find ourselves oogling at the fun shapes colours and lights that this season's windows brings us.

WINDOW/ Front & Co.

Hurray! I never usually have time to make it to Front & Co. because it's so awkward to get to from where I live but I was going for dinner with some friends and had my camera and managed to get a handful of photos! I always appreciate the resourcefulness of their windows. Most of the displays are created with recyclable materials but the designers use it to their advantage and it really adds to the richness of the displays.

WINDOW/ Aritzia - Mid Spring Windows

The chameleons have changed! What a great move on from their previous window... because chameleons change colours... and all they did was change the colours...

okay so I ruined that one. Time for photos.

WINDOW/ H&M - The New Icons

H&M's been upping their windows and upping their Visual Merchandising/Display this season and I've  been LOVING it! This window features the 4 freshest and biggest faces in fashion and a line inspired by them! I think this collection was a hit with the H&M crowd providing shoppers with a great mix of modern festival Bohemian-inspired designs. Lots of fringe, lace and maxis for everyone in an extremely versatile colour palate consisting mostly of black and nude with silver embellishments.

The window featured a large banner of Daphne, Joan, Lindsey, and Liu Wen with mannequins dressed in matching outfits in front. Love. it.

OUTFIT/ Back To Black

Sometimes I just feel like wearing all black... and my Gold Dot Paige Shoes. They're surprisingly comfortable and works of art in themselves. Thank you Gold Dot for making these and thank you Solestruck for selling them! Besides the shoes, one of my other favourite parts of this outfit is the chiffon cape-skirt. YES, it's technically a high-low skirt with a long rectangular panel cut out of the front. I just hike it up so you can't really see the front! Muhahaha!

This was a little fun project between Saul, Carlo, and me. Enjoy, and more to come soon!

WAH I've been so behind, Club Monaco's technically already got a new window in so I'm just gonna be posting these window posts like a mofo.

OUTFIT/ Show Your Numbers

I'm so sorry (mostly to myself haha) that I haven't been keeping updated. There are so many windows I've wanted to post and a couple more outfits on the back burner! For anyone that doesn't know I'm slowly taking on the roll of Creative Director at One1Onemagazine doing the layout/graphic design for the magazine. Wednesday at midnight is the launch of the May Issue so stay tuned, I'll be posting!

Anyways, I'm going to be in Portland next weekend so I thought I'd make the effort to squeeze in a post today.... EDIT: It's Wednesday now and we literally JUST launched the May issue—I'm about to pass out over my computer in Blenz. I had three hours of sleep and then worked at 8hr shift at Topman and now I'm here. Phew. (I'M SO PUMPED FOR PORTLAND NOW)

And now, I present to you the look!

Spiked Hat - | Steampunk Sunnies - USED Vintage | Jersey Tee - Topshop | Flow Pants - Cheap Monday (Hudson's Bay) | Boots - Dr. Martens (Little Burgundy)

OKAY I'm guilty but I can't help but love the summer trends this year! The combination between collegiate prep and urban grunge is too much fun to not partake in. Not to mention how lately I've kind of been rotating between black and white and all black outfits. I love going out in all black/grey layered looks, it's a nice mix of kick ass and laid back. Realistically though I know I just look like a gay fashion punk. Whatevz. I love this T-shirt though. Topshop originally intended it to be a t-shirt dress, but I love how with pants, it's just a long and fitted jersey-jersey.

The flow pants are tough to photograph. When I'm moving in real life they look great but in photos they can make me look like a giant mop. I tried experimenting with some more poses and I felt really good about these ones. What do you think?
