WINDOW/ Holt Renfrew Mid-Spring 2013

Hurray! The sun's been shining, the weather's been getting warmer and the windows are changing. First midseason window change is Holt Renfrew! Following the graphic trend, these windows take a great leap into spring by introducing a bright and fresh colour palette with lots of bold black and white patterns on the walls, props and in the styling. The geo-tulips are so cute!

Outfit/ Forest Futurism

LOVE my new Pray for Paris t-shirt... I've kind of stopped wearing it for a bit because of Boston and mostly because people here don't know the brand. "Why should we pray for Paris?" and "What's happening in Paris?" are common questions and I just don't feel like talking about it for a bit. I'm excited because PfP is releasing their summer collection soon on the 13th and there have been a couple previews which look VERY promising.

SHIT IS SO FRESH! Save up and keep checking for more—I think it's going to sell out within a couple days for sure.

Toque - Aldo | Acid Wash Denim Jacket - Topman | T-Shirt - Pray For Paris | Shorts - Army & Navy | Holographic Bag - H&M | Leggings - Mad Hatters Emporium | Sneakers - New Balance (Little Burgundy)

WINDOW/ BCBG Max Azria Spring 2013

First of all I didn't know Max Azria was two words until I Googled it today to make sure I was actually spelling it correctly (WOOPS... hey it's not like I've actually set foot in there).

Anyways, they've had this window up for a while, and it's kind of progressed from just pillars to pillars and flowers. Big woop. It's still pretty though and I figured I'd take some photos. This isn't the cutest window they've done but I figured I'd post it because it's pretty and springy and has flowers...

It's quite pretty and everything but all I can think of is

WINDOW/ ALDO Spring 2013

About two years back Aldo shoes (who also BTW owns Little Burgundy and Call it Spring) went through a major rebrand and moved one of each of their stores onto the same block on Robson Street.
This is their flagship store and I've been loving their windows! They focus on large vinyls—some windows have props and some have none. This time they've gone for an Alice in Wonderland theme, playing off of the black and white trend hitting Vancouver this season. The ladder adds some height to the window and brings together the hello graphic on the left. Besides checkers and block heels, their window pushes rope-wedges and cut outs and holographic pumps.

OUTFIT/LIFE/ Snapped for MTV Fora!

Thank you MTV Canada for the photo!  I'm so giddy right now hehehe. It was funny because I was having one of those outfit breakdown days where you can't find anything to wear. Anyways I was very close to wearing sweatpants out when I remembered I had a new $5 shirt from Joe Fresh to make an outfit with and that got me inspired. Just one of those lucky days I guess! :)

Snapback - Obey | Circle Scarf - American Apparel | Blazer - H&M | Bag - Herschel Supply Co | Shirt - Joe Fresh | Pants - Urban Outfitters | Shoes - Jeffrey Campbell The Damned | Earring - Topman

Damn, that's a nice lens. One day I will have a camera and lens that takes street style photos like that. Don't forget to check out the other looks! Saul's on there too :)

Until next time!

OUTFIT/ White & Bright

Cap - Topman | Winged Earpiece, Typography T - Topshop | Geometric Necklace - Oak + Fort | Grey Sport Shorts - Army & Navy | Silver/Black Shiny Legging - American Apparel | Silver Oxfords - Bass Shoes (Solestruck.com)

Finally got my hands on a fun pair of metallic leggings! I've been wanting a pair ever since I saw Hussein Chalayan's Holographic Leggings on SSense and Net-A-Porter. For $960 full price, now on "sale" for $480, it's just a bit out of my price range.

I settled for the American Apparel version.

Saul's also totally got me totally into oversized Ts again and life has gotten significantly easier.... No more worrying about bloated days in slim t-shirts! Hurray!

WINDOW/ Plenty Spring 2013

Up, up, and away! Plenty brings us another one of my favourite windows this season. Plenty has also been delivering great windows  for a long while and this spring they definitely did not disappoint. Their colourful hot air balloons are slightly reminiscent of LV's windows back in SS 12 but this is a more colourful fun version that I ironically find more "grounded".

WINDOW/ Hudson's Bay Company Spring 2013

You come across the WEIRDEST people taking any kind of street-photos. While I walking across the street to take these photos, dodging the rain, I was kind of guarding my camera from the rain under one arm. Just as I hold up my camera to snap a photo a woman walks by me and blocks me with her umbrella going, "YOU PERVERT I DON'T WANT MY PHOTO TAKEN," and then continues to storm off. Who does that?

Anyways, I really like what the Bay's been doing... (not to my paycheque) but their windows have been really amazing in the last couple years or so since Bonnie Brooks took over the company. She was also the one responsible for bringing Topshop/Topman to Hudson's Bay within Canada.

OUTFIT/ Dazed & Confused

I FINALLY found a great kilt! I found this gem at Dressew. For anyone who's not from Vancouver, Dressew's a fabric store in the "sketchy" part of  Downtown (it's actually totally fine) and they sell everything including Halloween props/costumes. They don't usually sell clothing but at the back they had probably six racks of discount clothing—not sure if it was second hand or samples or factory rejects. The kilt was $5. FIVE. After a bit of taking in from a size 10 to an 8, it fits like a glove!

Leather-Strap Cap - Obey | Steampunk Sunglasses - USED Vintage | Stars Sweater - Fabrixquare | Kilt - Dressew | Leggings - Mad Hatters Superstore (L O L they were $7) | Dr. Martens and Herschel Supply Co. Backpack - Little Burgundy

EDITORIAL/ Boys Will Be Boys

Had some fun with some editorial layout practice. Just a bunch of great guys hanging out downtown.  Continued after the jump. Click an image to view in shadowbox for best experience. Enjoy!

WINDOW/ H&M Spring 2013

Part of H&M's current campaign is their "Conscious Collection" featuring some amazing prints and patterns all made with recycled and eco-conscious materials. I'm kind of in love with the women's jungle-illustration prints. Their windows are a tonne of fun with their 3-D kaleidoscope of wild animals and flora. Styling is clean and matches really well with the props especially in the women's window.

WINDOW/ Oak + Fort Spring 2013

Somewhere in a wall in Gastown lies probably one of my most favourite stores that sometimes makes me wish I had boobs to fill their lovely drapey silk tops and wool jackets and cardigans. For a great price you can get your hands on a lot of well-designed and produced pieces. Very fitting to Vancouver's weather they offer great layering pieces and amazing basics that can go with literally anything. Think Aritzia but the price that you guessed it was instead of the marked up price. Definitely make the effort to check it out—it's definitely one of Vancouver's gem retailers.

WINDOW/ TNA Spring 2013

So I'm going to start this one off by saying I'm not by any means a fan of TNA or their products, but damn they consistently have fun windows.

WINDOW/ Club Monaco Spring 2013 Window

Early spring of 2013, Club Monaco is showing all of its lights. The mix of exposed light bulbs and black Pollock-esque splatters on canvas really play on the idea of a romanticized modern art studio. Raw and a bit brutalistic—a more down to earth way of selling a wearable black and white looks.
